In the final few pages, a human mother and daughter lovingly perform their own nocturnal ritual. There is not much action, but the calming story and repetitive, rhyming text is just right for bedtime sharing. The double-page illustrations are painterly in style, with curving lines and deep-hued tones. The animals wear colorful pajamas and have expressive facial features.
