Beware! Any similarities to a recent popular PBS-TV series are deliberately misleading. This is a collection of essays and commentary (published in Britain under the title Another Voice ) culled from the last ten years of the Spectator magazine. Despite his shameless trading on his father's success, Waugh's comments on the mores and morons of modern Britain are well worth examination. Few will agree with all, or many, of his opinions, but the sheer exuberance and misplaced self-confidence of these polished flights of waspish fancy make compelling reading. Topics dissected include the class war, the various generations gaps, politics, education, religion, racism, and the decline and fall of Britain.
