Peru (ENCHANTMENT OF THE WORLD SECOND SERIES)

Grade 7 Up-- Almost all full-color, the illustrations in this title are spectacular. There is a full discussion of this nation, historically, economically, politically, etc.; however, the information is presented in short sequences of a paragraph or two and continuity is thus constantly interrupted. All of the political leaders, right down to the present president, Alberto Fujimori, are included. One must wonder if all these names are really necessary. A sense of the people's lives tends to be secondary to facts and figures and hence is not at all "enchanting." Also, there are some omissions in the index.
