In an increasingly complex world, the necessity for greater flexibility and understanding of project management is coming in to its own--even though most people manage projects as part of their other duties. Special Edition Using Project 2000 provides you with a comprehensive understanding of the features, functions and best practices of project management, by thoroughly covering the industry's leading project management tool. This book provides you with a firm grasp of the installation, configuration and troubleshooting of Microsoft Project. You will learn to schedule tasks effectively, track costs, review and distribute information (especially Web distribution), project analysis, juggling multiple projects effectively, and customization, including macro and VBA integration.

From the Author:
Although this book has been classified as Intermediate/Advanced that’s only because its coverage is so comprehensive that it extends from the beginner level into intermediate and advanced topics. It originated out of my experience teaching beginners to use Microsoft Project, but I wrote it to be a complete reference for beginners and advanced users. It’s not for dummies, that’s true, but it’s not rocket science either.

If you’ve never worked with project management software before, you will find all you need to start at the beginning and become an expert within this one book. The first 17 chapters correspond roughly to the contents of the competitive “quick start” books, except that the coverage is more thorough. Microsoft Project is a very complex product and beginners invariably need the answers provided in this, the most comprehensive book on the market. Since 1993 the various editions of this book have been the standard reference for Project trainers and power users – and it is the book recommended by the experts on Microsoft’s Project newsgroup.

This new edition has extensive references to project management best practices and theory provided by Toby Brown, a PMI certified Project Management Professional. And there’s a much more thorough survey of VBA for Project. The CD includes my Microsoft Project 2000 Field Reference which describes all the fields in Microsoft Project and how they work together.
