From Library Journal:
Not a biography, this readable book is primarily a collection of quotations and miscellaneous sayings by the famed newspaper columnist, actor, and rope-twirling cowboy. The selections are grouped under the headings America, Congress, elections, government, presidents, politics, business, and philosophy. The compilers supply a running commentary. What this collection proves is that, although Rogers died in 1935, his humor is no mildewed anachronism. He was never bitter or brutal; he never hit anybody very hard, nor below the belt. Other recent collections of his writing include Sterling's own The Best of Will Rogers (Crown, 1979) and A Will Rogers Treasury (Outlet Bk. Co., 1986).
