They pay particular attention to its recent spread in the U.S., but also discuss current related issues worldwide. The page layout provides ease of reading, with relevant facts repeated in boxes. The black-and-white photographs are undistinguished, showing some animals (mostly raccoons) and magnified cells. Chapter notes and further readings draw heavily on recent periodical articles; a list of organizations for further information is appended. This title, written on a higher level, expands upon the information found in Elaine Landau's Rabies (Lodestar, 1993).
