A story of adventure and shamanic revelation, this fast-paced mystery, is based on ancient legends of the Southwest. Bestselling novelist Lynn V. Andrews ("Medicine Woman") called it "a marvelous story, with all the twists and turns deserving of the deeper spiritual mysteries it unfolds...as enchanting as it is deepening and enlightening." The Story: Tara Fairfield, an anthropologist at a western university, goes in search of her missing father. The journey takes her into remote, indigenous sites in New Mexico where mythology and contemporary reality collide. There she is initiated into a shamanic culture of healing and transformation, guided by an ancient prophecy that she must ultimately share with others. Like Tara, readers are brought closer to spiritual meaning and purpose where their own inner world connects them with ancient truths and brings them closer to the natural world. Award winning book illustrator Angela Werneke compares Spirit Circle to "a Tony Hillerman mystery shape-shifted to spiritual odyssey...with appeal for readers exploring Earth-based spiritual traditions." While a highly engaging novel, readers will also enjoy the author's epilogue and his discussion of the active role of shamanism in modern life, linking it to events described in the story. Includes easy to apply principles of the ancient "Medicine Wheel" traditions and ways to use this spiritual tool for self-consulting and deepening understanding of our relationships with each other in contemporary life.

From the Author:
I began writing Spirit Circle during a series of visits to New Mexico, researching my book Zuni Fetishes, on the tradition of spirit animals in the Zuni tradition and what they might teach us in contemporary life. Over several years I had many encounters with "spirits" that I could not explain and which I was very skeptical about. However, out of these encounters and time spent with shamans and elders a story began to form, first in my dream life and then on paper, that centered on the "collision" between modern western thinking and the ancient cultures and traditions that still exist so strongly in certain regions. The story and the characters emerged from what the "old people" called "the dream space" or the "other world," meaning, of course, from what westerners like to pass off as "imagination," suggesting it is all made up. The truths that slowly emerged on the page strangely aligned with the deeper universal truths that are at the heart of humanity's struggles between war and peace, love and hate, generosity and selfishness, forgiveness and grief, etc. As I struggled with the book--it had seemed too large, too outside the range of my abilities as a writer--an old friend of mine from the publishing world emerged, Don Gerrard, who offered to serve as a professional reader and editor. Don had been a publisher for many years so I welcomed the assistance and the present edition of the book is the outcome. We published the book originally under the Tenacity Press imprint, where several thousand copies were sold. The present edition is the 3rd printing and contains only minor changes and corrections from the first edition. We're happy to now be able to make it available as an ebook.
From the Inside Flap:
For centuries indigenous peoples have spoken of a secret society of shamans who consult with spirits from another reality. Who are these mysterious oracles? And what makes their teachings more relevant today than ever before?

A search for answers leads to ancient legends that tell of UFOs bringing visitors from other planets who have been participating in sacred ceremonies each year for hundreds of years. Tara Fairfield, an anthropologist, at first skeptical, is initiated into a shamanic reality where she is tutored in truths beyond her wildest dreams.

This story is based on actual events and a rich mythology that dates back over 10,000 years.
