I'm in love with words and try to vary them as much as I can in my writing. That's because I watched the demise of many words that had sunken into oblivion to be buried in the cold confines of dictionaries. Language is a living organism, and in my lifetime I've seen perfectly good words go to waste because people stopped using them, and so they began to sound unnatural and became useless. The more words you know, the broader is your scope of abstractions and ideas, and thus the broader are your horizons. In a world where language is constantly dumbed down to reach the masses, we should honor the power and beauty of words.
