About the Author:
Deb Murphy participated in her first long distance breast cancer walk in 1999 to show support for her godmother, who has been diagnosed with breast cancer. That weekend proved to be one of the most extraordinary times in her life, and even then she knew that "Why We Walk" would have to be a book. A graduate of the State University of New York at Geneseo, she lives in Atlanta, Georgia with her son Nicholas.Hometown: Atlanta, Georgia Paula Lerner began this project as a healthy and gifted photographer whos editorial roster includes Smithsonian, People, Time, Newsweek, Business Week, and more. Several months after beginning work on this book, Paula herself was unexpectantly diagnosed with breast cancer. Since then she has completed treatment, is doing well and has a good prognosis.
