From Library Journal:
A resident of Provence for 20 years, Jones draws on her intimate knowledge of the area to provide a glimpse of the art of living as practiced there. Brief essays, along with local proverbs, recipes, and excerpts from such artists and writers as Van Gogh and Colette, are grouped by season and complemented by lavish photographs that capture the seasonal moods. Unfortunately, the almanac style does not lend itself to providing insightful information, and Jones's prose is too characteristic of the canned tour guide's spiel and too self-assured to be compelling. A perfect coffee-table book--beautiful, undemanding, and insubstantial. Not recommended.
