Beth Bartlett is associate professor of political science at the University of Minnesota-Duluth, where she teaches and researches topics related to political philosophy, women's studies, and humanities. She also is a volunteer for LifeSource, an organization dedicated to educating health-care professionals and families about organ donations.

Bartlett was a 40-year-old college professor with a husband and young son when her life was threatened by heart disease. When all other treatments failed, she was finally given a heart transplant, after which she felt physically and spiritually reborn.
