Language Learners: Sophie Learns Spanish - Softcover

Grade 1-3-Sophie goes to Mexico to spend time with her aunt, uncle, and cousins. As she visits her relatives' house, the beach, a ranch, an open-air market, and even a soccer stadium, all the requisite vocabulary is presented on busy, bright, digitized spreads, in fold-out "phrasebooks," and on the CD. The phrasebooks, which list all the vocabulary introduced on each spread, are written in small type and are difficult to read. The CD, however, is well composed-by far the best learning option presented. The book's visuals make a natural transition to the computer screen, and hearing the words pronounced in a clear, idiomatic Spanish is invaluable. Similar in format to a number of other pictorial or interactive Spanish-English dictionaries such as the Larousse Picture Dictionary: English-Spanish/espanol-ingles (Houghton, 2002), this title is an additional purchase for most collections.
