Mayte Prida nació en Ciudad de México. Comenzó su carrera periodística como reportera local para la KMEX canal 41 de San Antonio. Un ascenso meteórico la llevó a conducir el diario informativo para KMEX Canal 34, en Los Ángeles, ambas estaciones afiliadas a la cadena Univisión.
