Red Cloth. Condition: Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Good. First Edition. Jacket is a little worn, but no tears or creasing, cloth binding very good, spine square, pages clean. The author was a reserve soldier in the Israel Army during the Sinai War. He was attached, by some inexplicable chance, to a Fuel Unit and in this capacity ranged over all the battle areas throughout the amazing five-day campaign. In this book he produced an entrancing account of his experiences, giving full rein to his penetrating eye, his sensitive feeling for the human touch and his unusual capacity for description. His is a factual and authentic story. The muddle of mobilisation, the troubles and grouses of the individual soldier, the human comedies and tragedies of the civilians turned overnight into soldiers; and then the larger drama of the war, and especially the tragic and heroic battle of the Mitla Pass, are presented with a gusto and descriptive power probably unequalled in Israeli writing.
