However, he soons mean a bewitching woman named Beatrice and falls quickly in love, before getting into a severe accident which leaves him disfigured, and unsure of whether Beatrice could love him back.By Ernest George Henham, who is also known by his pen name John Trevena. He lived much of his life in Dartmoor, resulting in vivid descriptions of the moorland in this novel.Three pages of adverts to the rear. In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally, smart, with light bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. Spine is a little faded. Light rubbing to the spine. A few minor marks to the boards. Hinges are starting but firm. Author's inscription to the recto of the front free endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean, with the occasional spot only.
