In vielen Medien (Zeitungen, Fernsehen, Bücher ) wird über dieses gezielte Tyrannisieren und Schikanieren berichtet. Hierbei beschränkt sich Mobbing oft nur auf den Arbeitsplatz und somit auf die Erwachsenenwelt. Leider findet Mobbing in den letzten Jahren auch vermehrt unter Kindern und Jugendlichen statt. Viele fragen sich seitdem, wie Mobbing in der Schule aussieht und wie es sich auswirkt. Das bis vor kurzem nur vage bekannte Phänomen unter Schülern ist nur schwer zu erkennen. Eltern erleben ein sich zunehmend zurückziehendes und isolierendes Kind und werden möglicherweise mit Schulunlust und aktiver Schulverweigerung konfrontiert. In mindestens 50% der Fälle bleibt die Ursache unklar, da Kinder wegen der Sorge, dass sie keine Chance auf Besserung der täglichen Schikanen in der Klasse haben, oft nichts davon erzählen. Seit es Anfang der 70er Jahre in Schweden erstmals beschrieben wurde, hat Mobbing als soziale Aggression unter Schülern in den letzten zwanzig bis dreißig Jahren erhebliches Forschungs- und starkes Medieninteresse erfahren (vgl. Schäfer, o.J.). Laut Mechthild Schäfer (o.J.) gehört Mobbing sozusagen zur Schülerkultur, denn an deutschen Schulen wird mindestens eines von zehn Kindern ernsthaft schikaniert und mehr als eines von zehn Kindern schikaniert andere. Es ist jedoch immer noch strittig, welche Ausmaße Mobbing einnimmt und welche Ursachen man für dieses Phänomen heranziehen sollte. Heitmeyer und Schröttle (2006, S. 189) finden insbesondere die Frage relevant, ob die Institution Schule durch Schulklima, Notengebung etc. auch Gewalt mitverursacht oder ob die Schule nur der Ort ist, der die Gelegenheit zur Gewalt bietet . Für die Autoren (vgl. Heitmeyer & Schröttle, 2006) scheint eine anspruchsvolle Kombination von Prävention und Qualitätsentwicklung von Schule notwendig zu sein. In dieser Arbeit soll zuerst näher beschrieben werden, wie Mobbing in der Literatur definiert wird und wo sein Ursprung liegt. Weiter werden präventive Maßnahmen vorgestellt. 40 pp. Deutsch.
