Book First Edition
Condition: Wie neu. Deutsche Erstausgabe. 334 (2) Seiten. 22 cm. Umschlagzeichnung von Volker Kriegel. Lesetipp des Bouquinisten! Sehr guter Zustand. Frisches Exemplar. A Man of Parts (2011) stellt das Leben des englischen Autors H. G. Wells in Romanform dar. Mehrere seiner Bücher (Small World, Nice Work, Martin Chuzzlewit) wurden, teilweise von ihm selbst, für das Fernsehen adaptiert. . . Aus: wikipedia-/David_Lodge. Sprache: Deutsch Gewicht in Gramm: 570 Grünes Leinen mit schwarzgeprägten Rückentiteln und Schutzumschlag.

John P. White, ix.70'. The WRAPPER is complete and in VERY GOOD+ condition. Minor edge-wear with a 3cm closed tear to the upper rear cover. Some toning to the folds, spine and upper cover edges. The Justin Todd wrapper artwork looks striking in the removable Brodart archival cover. The book has been Signed (without dedication) by David Lodge directly to the title page and a ticket for the signing event accompanies the book as provenance. This title was one of the first to be printed by computer and the process was deeply flawed, resulting in significant textual errors, and Lodge was also disappointed with the dust jacket design. Consequently, It was revised and reissued by Secker & Warburg in 1985. A very scarce early David Lodge title. Ashton Rare Books welcomes direct contact. Signed by Author(s).

First Edition
First edition. 8vo., original green cloth, spine lettered in gilt, dust jacket. London, MacMillan. Inscribed by the author on the front free endpaper in the year of publication: ?With very best wishes, David Lodge, Dec. 1970? The author's fourth book, but by far the scarcest in first edition form, as it was rapidly pulped by the publishers after a litany of mis-prints and other errors. Writing in his afterword to the revised edition of the novel in 1985, Lodge explained: ?The text was riddled with mis-prints, nearly all introduced by the printer, and many of them grotesquely obvious (like u for you) . the lines of type were bumpy, the spaces between the words grossly uneven and there were strange gaps within words .? A near fine copy in dust jacket, slightly creased at the head and tail of the spine.
