First Edition
Printed wrappers. Condition: Good. First Edition. 8vo., (17cm). Number Six in the Bodley Booklets series. pp. 118 [8]. To flyleaf, an old bookseller's pencilled note and what appears to be a name; on first blank, in a fine hand, the name Hugh M Tosh, dated 1908. The backstrip has worn away, with just a strip with the title remaining, and the rear wrapper is detached. Wrappers somewhat chipped, worn to tips, with creases to front, darkened, a few minor marks. Even so, if somewhat fragile, the binding is holding perfectly well. Rolfe's first major publication after Tarcissus some 18 years earlier and which launched his career as a writer.

Condition: Very Good. 2 handwritten letters on John Lane / Bodley Head headed notepaper (which proclaims it is 'Office of The Yellow Book') The first dated March 3rd 1898 in an unknown hand (possibly John Lane) assigns 'all rights whatsoever' (to John Lane / Bodley) the copyright of the six 'Stories of 'Stories Toto Told Me' which had appeared serially in his magazine The Yellow Book. It is signed on a stamp of Queen Victoria by Corvo as 'Baron Corvo.' A second letter on the same stationery with the ilustatted Bodley Head masthead cut out and dated February 14 1899 assigns the copyright for the book 'Stories Toto Told Me.' It is also signed on a stamp of Queen Victoria by Corvo as 'Baron Corvo' but also in his hand is the date '14. ii. 99.' In each case the sum was £10. Very good condition. From the collection of Max Reinhardt who bought the Bodley Head in the 1950s. Signedes.
